Phillip Einar Lindstrom (1937-2015)

                   I am going to start with one of the most recent deaths in my family, my grandpa-Phillip Einar Lindstrom.
                Philip Einar Lindstrom and his twin sister, Janice Ann, were born on august 11, 1937 in syracuse, New York.  His parents are sweden immigrant, Jonas Einar Lindstrom and American born, Anita B Boudrea.  As a kid, Philip played football and baseball, as well as the trombone in band.

              Phil attended college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York and studied engineering.  Once he graduated, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force as a second lieutenant.  His dream was to be a pilot, but he didn't pass the eye exam.  Philip served as a weatherman for the Air Force for a few years.

            After serving in the Air Force, Phil worked several engineering jobs in the midwest and then moved to Attleboro in 1969 to work for Texas Instruments.  After a little while, Philip decided that he didn't like engineering very much, so he went back to night school and got an MBA.
            He met his wife, Marcia Ann Carroll, while attending Air Force schooling in Boston, MA.  Marcia and Philip married on October 1, 1960 in Amityville, NY.  They had 5 children: Ann Marie (1961, PA), Susan (1962, NY), Paul (1965, MI), Pete (1966, OH), Glen (1970, MA).

            While raising their 5 children, Phil earned his self given nickname, the hawk.  He was the neighborhood dad and could always be counted on to be the pitcher, goalie, quarterback, or any position for any sport in any season that the kids needed him.  He loved watching his children, and eventally grandchildren, play sports and activities and could always be found on the sidelines taking pictures of the events.  Phil loved photography.  He belonged to a photo club and would attend meetings every week.  He enjoyed taking pictures of nature and he took pictures at all of his kids sporting events.  He often had a camera around his neck. 

             He was a very involved dad and the kids enjoyed spending time with him.  He was fun and silly and involved the neighborhood kids.  He even took all of the neighborhood kids hiking numerous times.  His kids recall that he often enjoyed tennis and playing the organ.

             Phil was very active in his church, St Marks of Attleboro falls, first as a lector and then as an extraordinary minister of the eucharist.  He continued this ministry at the St Francis-by-the-sea church when he retired full time in Hilton Head Island, SC in 2006.  While in retirement, he worked at the literacy center of lowcountry for almost 8 years.  In his retirement years, phil could often be found golfing and he took up painting, something he was pretty good at.  At the time of his passing, Phil had 12 grandchildren.
